GOD BLESS NIGERIA OUR COUNTRY...

OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER; NANS ZONE B (SOUTH-SOUTH & SOUTH-EAST NIGERIA)

"A GOODWILL MESSAGE DELIVERED TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF NIGERIA ON THE INDEPENDENCE DAY ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ON THE 01/10/2014

GOD BLESS NIGERIA OUR COUNTRY...
HAPPY 54TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY...!!!
I want to start by re-echoing my earlier stand and belief, that no matter the challenges we are facing today as a Nation, we are better of and more at advantage compare to today's alleged evil world powers in few years to come, as a united and one indivisible Nigeria.
I call on my brothers and sisters whether from the North West, South East, North Central, South West, North East or you are from the South South just like me, "you all will believe with me that we are all one".
The region where we all come from shouldn't divide us. From the land of the Kanuri speaking people of the North to the bini's of South, from that Berom man of Plateau to the Ibibio of Akwa Ibom, from Ogoni, Abua (Odual) land of Rivers State to Affade of Yobe, from Abayon, Adim, Adun of Cross River to Achipa (Achipawa) of Kebbi State. From Afizere people of Plateau State to Bachere of Cross Rivers, from Jere land in Bauchi State to Itsekiri Kingdom of Delta State, from Agbo and Akaju-Ndem people of Cross River to Idoma land of North Central. Stretching from Alago (Arago), Ano and Anaguta of Plateau State to the good people of Annang of Akwa Ibom State, from Owe, Oworo and Ogori of Kwara State to Andoni of Rivers. From Ankwei of Plateau and Ataka of Kaduna State to Anyima of Cross River State, from Auyoka (Auyokawa) of Jigawa State to the Awori man from Lagos or Ogun State, from Ayu of Kaduna State to Mbembe of Enugu and Cross River State, from the Bada people of Plateau in middle belt to the good people of Bade of Yobe State. Continuing from the Bakulung people of Taraba State to the great people of Ijaw land in Rivers, Bayelsa, Ondo and Delta State, from Bambora (Bamborawa) of Bauchi to Yache of Cross River State, from Bali of Taraba State to Owan land of Edo State, from Bambuko in Taraba State to Becharra of Cross Rivers State and also from Banda people of Taraba State to the most ideological people; the Yoruba people of South-West Nigeria.
Not yet done, the Lord of creation stretches forth once again from the land of Banka (Bankalawa) in Bauchi State to the Isoko's of Delta State, from Bara (Barawa) and Barke of Bauchi State to Bette of Cross River, from Baruba of Niger State to Uyanga of Cross River State, from Bashiri (Bashirawa) of Plateau State to Ejagham of Cross River State, from Bassa of Kaduna, Kogi and Niger State to Uneme (Ineme) of Edo State, from Bata and Banso (Panso) of Adamawa State to Egbema of Rivers State, from Baushi of Niger State to Oron people of Akwa Ibom State, from Botlere and Baya of Adamawa State to Ekoi of Cross River State, from Bele (Buli, Belewa) of Bauchi to Gokana (Kana) of Rivers State, from Betso (Bete) of Taraba State to Qua people of Cross River and from Billei land in Adamawa to Ebu people of Edo and Kogi State. From Bina (Binawa) of Kaduna State to Urhobo people of Delta State, from Bobua of Taraba State to Egun of Lagos and Ogun State, from Bikkos of Plateau State to Mbube of Cross River State, from Ika People of Delta State to the Boko (Bussawa/Bargawa) of Niger State, from Bole (Bolewa) of Yobe and Bauchi State to Etsako of Edo State, from Etuno of Edo State to Boma (Bomawa) of Bauchi State, from Bomboro of Bauchi State to Olulumo of Cross River State and then from Bunu of Kogi State to Nkim of Cross River State. Continuing the journey in recognition of God's magnificent love for the Nigeria people and unifying us as one, coming down from the northern part of Buduma land of Borno State to Degema land of Rivers State, from Bwazza of Adamawa State to Ukelle of Cross River State, from Chama of Bauchi State to the Ishan (Esan) people of Edo State, from Chinine of Borno to Igbirra of Kogi, Edo and Ondo State, from the Chibok (Chibbak) of Borno and Yobe State to the Ibeno's of Akwa Ibom State, from the Danda (Dandawa) of Kebbi to Eket of Akwa Ibom State, from the Dakarkari of Niger and Kebbi State to the Okpamheri people of Edo State, from the Duka ( Dukawa) of Kebbi State to the Ebana (Ebani) of Rivers State, from the Igbo people of South-Eastern Nigeria to the Nupe people of Niger State, from the Fulani (Pulbe) people of Sokoto State to the good people of Idoma land, from the Okobo (Okkobor) people of Akwa Ibom to the Igalla people of Kogi State and finally from the most peaceful and hospitable people of Ukwuani (Ndokwa) of Delta, Rivers, Anambra and Imo State to the Hausa people of Kano, Sokoto, Jigawa e.t.c, we are one, one indivisible Nigeria, that is who we are.
It is equally high time we stop allowing the different religion we profess individually to affect our relationship with our neighbours. It is only in the presence of Peace that Democracy will properly thrive.
My activities at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has indeed opened my eyes to the reality that Nigeria will definitely remain as one no matter the challenges. If only the relationship and camaraderie that is exhibited within the ranks of all players in National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), were we know no tribe but that of One Nigeria is replicated in all facets of our Society, i strongly believe Nigeria will immediately bounce back to its peaceful state.
The youth of this Nation should be weary of the envy and jealousy of the supposed world powers, who for no other reason save for wickedness and continuous hold on world power  will do everything within their power to make sure Nigeria breaks. The truth is that, they see Nigeria as a threat to their hold on power, hence she must be brought down. These supposed world powers are not fools, they are very much aware of the potentials of this country, knowing fully well the advantage that our size/population accords us in the comity of nation. This population and size undoubtedly gives us a very large home market, hence these our enemies are here again in what i call 21st Century Colonialism, doing all they can to divide us. My fellow Nigerian Youths, let us look beyond the smoke screen and ask ourselves one simple question; what is behind the supposed prediction that Nigeria will break up in 2015? then please ask yourself again, why has US failed to supply Nigerian Government weapon in the fight against Boko Haram.
Greatest Nigerian Youths, I tell you, this is a well orchestrated fight against your Destiny, My Destiny and our Destiny, and we must not stand akimbo and watch the Nation that our freedom fighters laid down their life for and finally got on the 1st of October, 1960 go down just like that. If the so called world powers has conspired to get Nigeria as a country down because of the fear of what the country will become in 10 - 15 years from now, then we the youths of this Nation must stand our ground, spread the message to our fellow youth across the country on the need to see a Nigerian as a Nigerian and nothing less. The struggle lies in our shoulder as the future of this Nation to salvage. Nnamdi Azikiwe did it, Sir Tafawa Balewa did it, Sir Amadu Bello did it, Obafemi Awolowo did it and Anthony Enahoro also did it. These quintessential freedom fighters did it for us and we must also be ready to do it for the incoming generation.
Enough of the senseless killing, the insurgents should all laid down their arms for peace to return to this hitherto peaceful Nation. I know it is achievable, Let us spread the message, "ON ONE NIGERIA WE STAND"!!!

Congratulations to Nigeria at 54th Independence Anniversary, truly it is worth celebrating as the life of a Nation is  very long, hence we will get there, undermining the challenges.
Once again congratulations to my Country!!!
54 Gboza for the good people of Nigeria.

NANS to NYSC: Reverse N4, 000 Call-up Letter Processing Fee

SEPTEMBER 27, 2014 5:11 PM0 COMMENTSVIEWS: 5
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B (South-South & South-East) has called on the Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen Johnson Olawumi to immediately reverse what is described as “obnoxious policy” of N4, 000 fee for online processing of Call-Up letter for all prospective corps member.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the organisation; Pedro Obi, the statement reads in part “In as much as we agree that getting the Call-Up Letter online is a right step in a right direction, we equally want to remind the Director General that NYSC is a call to service, a service to our Fatherland and as such the financial burden shouldn’t be on the corps member, rather the commission should look inward for other ways to sustain the scheme for optimum service delivery.

“We therefore call for an outright abolition of the fee as the argument for it’s sustenance holds no water except for self enrichment to the detriment of the poor suffering masses, whose hope for a job after passing out of the scheme is not even guaranteed,” Obi stated. He added that except the Director General wants to give room for those calling for the scrapping of the scheme to have more bullet points in support of their call, “this we are sure will be the only reason the Director General of the scheme will go ahead to implement this inhuman policy of the year and we can assure him that the student community will be mobilized to resist the policy in its entirety”.

NANS DEMAND REVERSAL OF NYSC #4,000 CALL-UP LETTER PROCESSING FEE BY THE DIRECTOR GENERAL.

Violent protest paralyses activities at Akwa Ibom poly

NO fewer than three persons were injured on Friday following students’ violent protest that crippled  activities at the Uyo campus of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.

It was learnt the students’ leaders, under the aegis of the Joint Executive Council of Student Associations on Campus Association (JECAC), called out their members in protest against management’s alleged refusal to allow Students Union activities on the campus.

Saturday Tribune findings revealed that prior to Friday’s protest, the students’ council had met on September 9, to impress it on the school management to allow for the conduct of the Students Union elections in accordance with the constitution of the students’ body.

The communiqué, signed by 37 students’ leaders across all academic departments in the school, asked the management to comply with the directive or risked students’ unrest in the institution.

The communiqué, signed by Akan Iidongest Eyo, Chairman of the committee; the Secretary, Comrade Ibanga Michael and 35 others, read in parts: “It is the constitutional right of every Nigerian student to vote and be voted for as contained in the solidarity constitution of the Students Union of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.

“The continuous denial of our right is capable of causing the eruption of major student’s unrest…”

Asking the management to follow through this resolution before the end of the month, the aggrieved students, who recalled that the suspension of students’ union activities had been in force in the institution in the last 12 years, said they could no longer contain their bottled anger over the infringement of their rights by management.

NANS Condemns Abuja Bomb Blast

APRIL 15, 2014 10:54 PM0 COMMENTSVIEWS: 18
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B, has condemned in strong terms, early Monday bomb blast at Nyanya, Abuja, that left 75 people dead and 140 injured.

The body noted that the incident calls for sober reflection by all the youths of this country, wondering “what is wrong with this Country, whom have we offended; because in all of these blast/explosion, the youths/Students are the most affected.

It further lamented that the killing of innocent Nigerian citizens has turned to a daily routine by these blood sucking demons masquerading as Islamic apologist, when Islam itself as a religion, is a religion of peace.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Pedro Obi, reads “This senseless killings has to stop, we call for the complete overhauling of the Nations Security Agencies and immediate probe of yesterday’s incidence and the findings made public with immediate effect by the Federal Government.

“The bomb blast is a clear indication that there is a strong orchestrated conspiracy against this administration, owing to the fact that the State of Emergency in the 3 North Eastern State is suppose to elapse in few days from now. This is a pointer that some wicked persons in high places are eating fat with this State of Emergency and we call on the Federal Government to immediately act now and stop the killing of innocent Nigerians on a daily basis. In as much as we believe the Federal Government is doing some work to curb this insurgent, we feel there is need to change tactics and inject new idea to stop this well coordinated fight against the State.

“In the same vein, we condole with the families of the blast victims, who lost their loved ones and pray that God will give the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and to the injured ones, we pray for quick healing and recovery from the trauma of the incident. “And to the general public, let’s be security conscious. Enough is Enough”!

Fashola faults national awards to political office holders

Lagos –  Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Thursday said that the award of national honours to political office holders was inappropriate.

Fashola spoke in Lagos at the 4th Gani Fawehinmi Colloquium organised by the Gani Fawehinmi Chambers of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.

He said that the practice undermined the culture of hard work as it presumed recipients had done exceptionally well in the service of the nation, even when they had not completed their terms in office.

Fashola said national honours should, ideally, be conferred on people based on retrospective assessment of their achievements and the impact they had made to national development.

The  theme of the colloquium was “ Consolidating Democratic Norms through Credible Electoral Process.“

“The concept of giving public officers national awards simply offends, because I ask, what will you give to such persons after he has left office and has done well?

“You see, we can use the game of football to explain why this is not appropriate. Will FIFA stop a game at half-time and say let’s give the Most Valuable Player award to this or that player because he has done well?

“ No, that is only done at the end of the game. Or will fans or people congratulate a striker for instance, for goals he has not scored? No, things are not done that way.

“ The whole idea undermines the culture of hard work and it is better we start recognising people the right way and for the right reasons,’’ he said.

Fashola also decried the arbitrary conferment of awards on people by tertiary institutions and other organisations, saying this promoted wrong values in the country.

He said the conferment of such honours should be strictly for exceptional and deserving individuals and not for pecuniary expectations or other favours.

According to him, the Lagos State University (LASU) has been directed to suspend the conferment of awards in order to preserve respectability of such honours.

“My directive to the university is not because I am a saint or that there are no deserving people in our state the university can honour.

“On the contrary, I believe those awards are critical building blocks of the moral and development fibre of the society and I feel duty bound to ensure that we do not lose or destroy those blocks,“ he said.

The governor urged Nigerians to guard the nation`s democracy jealously by shunning acts that could weaken or truncate it.

He advised Nigerians to embrace the right democratic values, which according to him, would strengthen governance and bring about development.

Fashola said the power to change the country for the better rested largely in the hands of the electorate and urged them to use it to bring about good leadership.

“The power to bring out change rests in your hands, the electorate. You can help change the country for the better by voting out bad leaders while keeping good ones,’’ he said.

The governor said the media had a big role to play in strengthening democratic norms by giving the people the right information.

He charged the media to be alive to its democratic responsibility by shunning partisanship and reporting only issues that promoted development.

Fashola described the late Fawehinmi as a man of many positive values and noted that the country would be better if it lived by some of these values.

Also speaking, constitutional lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay, said democracy was a misnomer in the absence of the rule of law.

He urged Nigerians to always respect and obey the law as that would help strengthen democracy.

Earlier, Prof. Akin Ibidapo-Obe, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, commended Fashola for the support he had rendered to the faculty.

He said that the support, which covered sponsorship of students and participation in overseas academic competitions, had helped deepen legal training in the faculty.
