NANS DEMAND REVERSAL OF NYSC #4,000 CALL-UP LETTER PROCESSING FEE BY THE DIRECTOR GENERAL.

Press Release
27/09/2014

BEING A TEXT OF PRESS STATEMENT BY COMRADE PEDRO CHIBUZO OBI; PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, NANS ZONE B (SOUTH-SOUTH & SOUTH-EAST) ON THE CONTROVERSIAL NYSC #4,000 CALL-UP LETTER PROCESSING FEE.

NANS DEMAND REVERSAL OF NYSC #4,000 CALL-UP LETTER PROCESSING FEE BY THE DIRECTOR GENERAL.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B (South-South & South-East) calls on the Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC); Brig-Gen Johnson Olawumi to immediately reverse the obnoxious policy of #4,000 fee for online processing of Call-Up letter for all prospective corps member.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the organisation; Comr. Pedro Obi, the statement reads in part "In as much as we agree that getting the Call-Up Letter online is a right step in a right direction, we equally want to remind the Director General that NYSC is a call to service, a service to our Fatherland and as such the financial burden shouldn't be on the corps member, rather the commission should look inward for other ways to sustain the scheme for optimum service delivery. We therefore call for an outright abolition of the fee as the argument for it's sustenance holds no water except for self enrichment to the detriment of the poor suffering masses, whose hope for a job after passing out of the scheme is not even guaranteed". Comrade Pedro Obi added that except the Director General wants to give room for those calling for the scrapping of the scheme to have more bullet points in support of their call, this we are sure will be the only reason the Director General of the scheme will go ahead to implement this inhuman policy of the year and we can assure him that the student community will be mobilized to resist the policy in it's entirety". he said.

Viva Aluta...        Viva Continua...
